I’m always searching for new ways to build my business. And in the tradition of keeping things simple, networking popped into the mix.
What? “network?” That’s a scary word, especially for us introverts!
For most of us writers (and introverted) types, the very utterance of the word makes us cringe. Yeah, it’s that bad.
We’d like to think that we work in a comfy, safe world of solitude but the pure natural fact is…
… We don’t! And shouldn’t if you want to amp your game a notch or two.
Truth is, I am seriously an introvert and somewhat shy. My nature is to resist the whole notion of networking.
Here’s the crazy point… I’ve been networking all along and didn’t even realize it.
My small network consisted of printers, competitors, colleagues, teachers, friends, heck I even had a few trusted family members in my network.
Each in their own way helped me out of the doldrums and into success early on.
Hey, if the pros in your field network, then maybe you should consider it as well. So, get over your bad self and get your network groove on. You need this and it’s not that bad every single day begin.
If nothing else venture out and get your bad personal a “beginner” network. This may contain folks you’re likely to never match like biz most people you admire, authors, bloggers.
The real point is you can follow them and study from them.
Another great to build your network is to begin attending several events like masterminds, schooling seminars and occasions in your field. This is the best way to meet brand-new most people who might help you later on.
The rule is, nevertheless, to give a lot more than you take. Be great about any of it for God sakes rather than come on such as a vulture who would like, wants, wants.
Perform these folks a specialist courtesy and provide your companies for a discount. Prepare yourself to give away a few of your period and pay attention to their complications and help them look for a solution. It never hurts to assist occasionally – in particular when you are getting started.
Selfish folks obtain shunned and ignored thus don’t be among “those guys.”
So, go away and get your self a Rolodex (Carlton’s beloved way of monitoring people). Or if you are into the digital equipment, track folks this true way.
The idea of to now begin…
A small network could be powerful and incredibly profitable. Don’t trust me?
Some tips about what John Carlton says:
“I love to remind the skeptics that I made my first lot of money from a network set of around 300 people. It had been a geyser of good customers, great pals recommending me, and colleagues who watched my back and helped me resolve every nagging problem I ever encountered. It’s a much bigger list now, but those initial few hundred were a surprising revelation in the energy of networking.”
Yours for bigger earnings,
